Worked the spool timing on 3.7L today

I did some work on the timing in the spool area. Although it's kind of hard to see on the chart (and every point on these pulls isn't necessarily the best or worst) I picked up around 11.4 ft lbs on average thruout the spool from the worst recorded run to the best. I don't think there's much more hiding in there from timing during spool alone.

    BTW...
    200 lb ft - 2544 rpm - 0.7 psi
    300 lb ft - 3714 rpm - 4.22 psi
    400 lb ft - 4179 rpm - 8.06 psi
    500 lb ft - 4585 rpm - 15.2 psi

EDIT: Hmmmm...I just realized I lost some spool up when I advanced the timing. 176 rpm later to 15 psi. Oh well...it's making more power everywhere.

Was going to suggest leaning the afr to aid in spool but you're already pretty lean as it is! Those are some nice numbers too. It's sick knowing that turbo hasn't even come alive at that pressure level!

Maybe I missed it in one of your build threads, but have you considering purchasing some adjustable intake cam gears to aid in the midrange power?

When are you going to take it to a dyno?

I already have adjustable gears but they're currently locked down at +1/-3.

I'm probably not going to take it to the dyno until it's completely tuned using the virtual dyno software. It'll just be for fun at that point.

Amazing numbers, and you have PLENTY of potential left in there. That turbo is still yawning at only 15psi. Great to see you here, too!

You trust that program enough to find MBT? Is it fairly consistant from pull to pull (wind/slight slope/etc.)?

I wan't too sure until I did this last night. I found the torque responded as expected from pull to pull. I was doing about 0.9* at a time and as I advanced I watched the torque increase (the gains weren't all that big though as the car wasn't running much boost/rpm). The gains disappeared then torque started sliding slowly backwards just like I expected. I went about 1.8* past peak just to make sure the first backwards slides weren't flukes and they weren't. Once that was done I tested within +/- 0.6* around where I found the most to torque to really nail it down.

Once I got into the 4000-4350 range the power gains from the same amount of timing advance were alot more significant (IE 15.9 ft lbs at 4350 from worst to best).

And BTW...I was going the same direction on the same exact section of road all night long.

    It works as advertised.

Awesome! Makes things a lot easier/cheaper, huh? I'm stock but may have to play around with it and see if I can find any changes at my low power levels. You using virtual dyno or virtual dyno room?
