Here are the stats for a site I manage. But then again, the tech level of the average person accessing this site is very low IMO.

1. Internet Explorer 49.95%
2. Firefox 17.42%
3. Safari 14.92%
4. Chrome 12.53%
5. Android Browser 2.36%
6. Mozilla Compatible Agent 1.35%
7. Mozilla 0.49%
8. Opera Mini 0.38%
9. Opera 0.27%
10. IE with Chrome Frame 0.19%

These are MUCH more inline with that I see day to day.

Plus it gets annoying validating web software for chrome 99.1232424353434343 R2 that came out yesterday when I'm running 99.1232424353434342

However, this particular study includes a majority of last year and only 2 weeks of stats after the effects of prerendering were removed from StatCounter (week 28, 2011 - week 15, 2012) It's safe to say that this study is misleading and inaccurate.

i was reading today that another 3rd party tracker shows figures of 49% IE, 19% FF, 13-15% chrome--for the same period of time. skepticism the name of the game when i hear things like the thread title.

thirded. having addons for a browser is like crack...once you use them, you can't imagine going back. downloading an entire picture gallery with 2 clicks? check.

google pisses me off enough as it is. every third search i do on google is interrupted--mid type--by some BS popup window asking me if i want to save something.

You're doing it wrong then. I use solely google to search and never, ever have gotten a pop up about saving anything.

I use Opera and have for many many years. I now feel like a bastard child, but I love mouse gestures (it's what made me interested in Opera from the get go)
