I'm pretty sure we meet nearly every Sunday and I've invited you atleast 20 meets and/or different outings and you have an excuse or a reason you can't show everytime. Most has to do with you not being able to quit dicking with your car and just enjoying it. I tell you quit upgrading an messing with it and just drive. You don't. You break something, get stuck, or in way over your head and ask for help so I take my free time to drive 3 hours to help you out... Man, I've driven to the end of the earth and busted my back and my ass for free to help you out and you just can't stop touching your car or listening to good advice.
I've invited you to every Nationwide meet I've ever attended since the beginning when it was just 30 of us, it's every Sunday... the day you don't work, remember. You've never once showed, and never once showed interest in attending. For some strange reason the rest of the club finds a way to get together a couple of times a month and roll to a meet. The president of CTC, ME, representing our 500 club invites you over and over and over again so you can see for yourself in real life, and come to understand, why we build fast cars and why we gather. To have you post shit like this really disappoints me.
You can get all sandy and pissed but nothing I've ever said to you hasn't come to pass and play out exactly how I said it would. You didn't take my advice you took advice on the internet and bam!
... you think you needed that T-case... nope! The plenum... nope! The isc... nope! To take the output shaft out of that perfecly fine professionally rebuilt trans you bought from Austin... nope! All that shit that snow-balled and led to your brake thread and you R&R ing and disassembling your car 3 times was because you just can't leave shit alone and enjoy what you have. Why can't you just finish one thing before you start another and enjoy your car?
So now your pissed that I'm sick of being a tape recorder? Sick of watching years of uneccessary expense, wasted time, pain, and suffering? Sorry for me drawing the line ,Mike, and saying, "I'm out if you keep pumping time and money into a never ending construction project that will never be done or enjoyed".
BTW some of this shit is the fault of you jokers on the internet. Mike, takes this stuff seriously. He's invested a lot of money and time. Poured his hear and a life savings into this car. He trusts you guys and believes almost everything you tell him. You guys said he needed a billet t-case, and x,y, and Z. He didn't need any of that shit, but he listened to your advice and ended up getting tied to a boat anchor and thrown of the deck.
The best advice you could have given... "Be done, and enjoy your car!"
Mike, if you're pissed off that I said what I said in the ISC thread. Great, I hope you get that I'm doing it in your best interest! Quit fucking modding your car and enjoy it! There doesn't have to be just "one more thing". You don't need any of that shit to go fast or enjoy your car. What you do need is keys and a tank of gas, and to drive it like you stole it! You can do that without all that shit guys in the internet keep telling you you need.
I'm done ranting... thanks.
Jeremy, You live 2 hours away, i only have sundays off and Im married with a 15yr old and 6 and 2 yr old. Forgive me for not being able to drive 2 hours to Denver, for a meet at 10pm at night, then "cruise for a couple hours" then drive another 2 hours home. Ya, that goes over really well with Melissa. I never said anything for you to come down and help. You offered the help. I drove up there the 1st time and the second time you came down. I gave you money the first time then you stayed at my place the second time and i think i filled the truck up didnt i? Either way, i was nothing but humbled by what you HAVE done for me and have nothing but theutmost respect for your knowledge.
Im not a kid, dont like to be treated like one. If i feel like im being talked down to, then i react. I almost got in a fight with another GM at our chevy store and the owners stopped me because he said i was a kid. I said lets go outside and this kid will kick your ass. lol The owner got up and sat me down lol. I dont know everything or very much abou these cars. But, because of the help from this forum and 3si I can hold my own. Tuning, not a chance.
The thing is, I do enjoy my car. Yes, I listen to alot of the guys I know have been around the block. Maybe I should just stop, take a breath and enjoy my car. There is nothing that would thrill me more than to drive to Denver and go race around but I have a family, one that depends on me alone, and if anything happened to me then what? Oh here Melissa, your idiot husband who was racing on the highway is dead, or in jail. Hope you can pay the bills and your kids will be without their dad. Im not stupid. Sure, once in a while ill give her some GO juice, but mostly to the speed limit then slow down. I like to do the fast driving at the strip where its safer.
I have to admit. I like to learn about the car and do as much "hands on" as i can to do this on my own. I wont ask anymre for help from the colorado folks. Dont worry. If I was single and no kids, sure...Id be there in a minute!
If it makes me a noob, or a bad guy, or waste peoples time because I "DO" like to ask questions, then I guess thats what i am. Sry to go on about this, I love this car and the community, but Ive had people harp about me opening double threads and so forth. All i can say is who fukin cares? I do that because there are people on both sites that dont come to either/or and I like the experience and knowledge from both sites. I even was talking to the wife last night while taking a shit and told her abou this and she was like really? Sell the car then lol. I said thats not happening.
okay, im done ranting back at jer. Jer, i love ya like a brotha, just remember that I do love to race and we are not all blessed to have hall passes to go race in the middle of the night while our wife and kiddos are home asleep dreaming of sugar plums and candy

Welcome to high school
Actually I can see both sides of this. My advice to you Mike is read more and do less. There are a lot of people that post that don't know as much as they think they do. Or they know a lot but cant explain themselves. You have to get multiple opinions sometimes to arrive at the truth. My solution to raising the family was to do very little to the car other than enjoy it. Now that the kids are grown I'm getting more money and more time for the car.
See, that's what I'm sayin'. How much time this past few months did you spend on modding? If you took 1/4 of that time and spent 8 hours driving (what you built) how happy would you be? OMG, if you told Mellisa, "I'm goin out for a few hours when everyones asleep and its not taking away from family time." Do you think she would say no? Quite the contrary, I bet she says "go, spend a few hours letting loose vs. spending every free min you get obsessing on that car."
You guys always speak of the club as if I'm cheating death every weekend. Truth be known we're actually law abiding citizens that get loose every once in a blue moon. It's a pals club. Racing's a very very small part of what we do and why we get together.
You ever wonder why engineers, lawyers, doctors, and some of the world most successful and happy people obsess on hobbies like golf and cars and crazy vices like MMA and shooting guns? Its therapy. Their successful because they get that time for themselves and network with guys that relate and appreciate the sentiment. You get a little piece of heaven, just enough to keep the drone like day_to_day from destroying you.
Some guys go to the gym for an hour or two every day or a couple of times a week and pound weights and etc. How is this any different? You ask for a couple of hours once or twice a month that imparts nothing but rest. Truth be known you actally get that rest and relaxation back by sacrificing sleep time doing something you love.
I swear to god it works!
well i will say welcome to high school, and i am on the same amount of time, mod, etc level.
i am not trying to be a jerk, but sin, you have made some silly mistakes. im sure you are tired of people ragging on you (as you should be) however when you have a 550hp car, there is a certain amount of expectation in your posts. i dont care if people agree with that or not, there is an unspoken expectation. there is also a certain amount of self control/common sense that comes with modding your car. yeah buying a billet t-case is cool and you will never break it, however, is it worth it? if you did break it, its like $300 for another one.
you really SHOULD try and just enjoy the car. i am VERY much like you in the sense that i cant leave well enough alone, but i am trying a new leaf as soon as i get done with my build.
what im trying to say, is that i hope this breaking point you are at, will become a learning experience. you need to stop and think about what people say (even the pro's) instead of just blindly taking advice and spending your hard earned money. go out and enjoy the car now that its done. give it the summer, see if you can go make some car friends, go to some meets, whatever it takes, and try to respark your passion you once had. and for the love of God, please think before you act/type/talk/everything.
rise and rise again until lambs become lions
Oh I dunno... I have a billet TC and it looks fantastic just sitting on a shelf in the garage. Totally necessary, IMO.
Mike, sometimes it's just best to take a step back from your car for awhile. Think about what's important to you, if it's really worth the time and energy to have a modded car. If you decide it is, then just take things at your own pace, and don't be afraid to ask questions. The sad fact is, most of us old timers have posted in just about every thread imaginable on every type of mod or problem imaginable, and that was years ago. But I'd like to say "Sorry" on behalf of the long time members here if we haven't always been helpful. But, J.Fast has a point to be made... all the groundwork in modding these cars (especially at your horsepower levels) has been done, documented, and put to bed. You don't need to be trying a lot of mods to achieve the results you are looking for. Just stick to what has been proven to work, and everything else you can leave alone.
Whatever you do though, don't leave the platform because you may be angry with some members here. If you're going to leave, do it because you've decided that it's time to move on for the right reasons, not because you think some people are being unhelpful.
Ok, i do spend a shit ton on this car. Did I have to put on a billet tcase? No...but will I worry about my 640trq car exploding it with slicks at the strip? no. Did I have to put a hardened OS in my car? No, but will I have to worry about my stocker twisting like a candy cane at the strip with slicks? No. If i ran on the street then no, the drivetrain wouldnt be neccessary. But, i am mostly launching where i can have the most stress on the drivetrain. Do i listen to more than I should ....sometimes. Do i follow thur on everything people have told me...no.
Look, I know I ask a TON of questions. thats what this forum is for right? To get people that have a common interest in these cars and talk about them and problems, dreams, solutions we all have for these cars. If i am "wasting" some peoples time, then wtf is the purpose of the forums? To come on here and talk about desperate housewives? Or "hey you see that episode of greys anatomy? who fukin cares. I come here to talk about our cars and issues I might have, or to help others out with issues i might have already had and fixed myself.
Law abidding citizens jer? You YOURSELF told me that you were pulled over for FLYING thur a construction work zone on the highway and he "let" you go. Cmon. bro. I know you dont just drive the speed limit. I was in your car when you were pulling a hard pull and the oil dipstick popped out when we were doing around 120+. Then the post about the cars and the video you wont post? If its all legal then why isnt it up? Dont bullshit a bullshitter. Dude, and you a few hours? it is 4 hours up and back. i dont have the time to go
ok, this thread is done. I will just lurk in the shadows from now on.
