    Anyone here "Prepping"?

I'm not prepping for some zombie apocalypse but I have started doing a little. Anyone else on here do any kind of prepping?

I personally believe that nothing major is going to happen to cause a need for prepping, but instead the amount of people who go out and buy everything up in preparations is what will cause the problem. Not on small measure as I am talking about but mass buy out of food and water. (Its crazy enough to find something at walmart with the superbowl)

The only real prepping I've done was the constructing of a bugout bag. I went and purchased a nice water resistant hiking bag and have started loading it with stuff like:
water proof matches, a collapsible shovel, rain ponchos, emergency blankets, flint sticks, tape, rope, stuff like that.. Basically a bag of stuff that would be useful to have when out camping.

Does anyone else here do this stuff or am I going crazy?

Pretty much a throwback from my paramilitary days, way back. Better over prepared than under prepared.
Firearms, ammo, reloading supplies, 2 weeks non perishable food and water for the family. I try to keep at least one tank in the truck full, and have a loaded "camping trunk" in the rafters that can be dropped into the bed of the pickup in minutes.
I've also planned and practiced sweeping the house in the dark for intruders, in case of a break in. I'd hate for someone to get behind me in the dark in such a situation.
I draw the line at garlic and silver bullets though...
Crazy? Perhaps... But I sleep just fine.

I just acquired my SIG556, 10 pmags, 1,000rds of 5.56mm, 250rds of 9mm and 500rds of 30 carbine. This is purely because I wont come home until the end of the year and I know the prices/availability are going to suck. If your well armed, you can find supplies if something were to happen.

I haven't really stocked up on guns much, mainly because if shit was to get crazy I have 2 pit stops to make and both of the people I'd go to first have about 10x the guns they do people to shoot em. (I went out last weekend and shot 19 different pistols and rifles and that wasn't all their guns). So I figured, if they have all the guns and ammo and we're planning on hitting the same place in emergency I need to spend more money buying basic survival stuff.. 1 of the guys has over 100 acres up in the oklahoma pan handle thats riddled with deer and turkey and stuff so we'd probably take off there.. lol

I do a little prepping, but I consider myself a practical prepper. I mostly prepare for my own SHTF moments in life, not really for the world coming to an end or anything like that.
I sort of stumbled into it because I've always done some camping & hiking. Although there was about a 6 year span of my life when I didn't get out much because my foot was crushed by a forklift, but that's another story. Anyway I came across a bug out bag list one day & realized I had 70% in my hiking bag already. I thought the other stuff made sense so I added it.
After that buying a few extra non-perishable foods each grocery store trip became a habit. My wife thought it was a good idea to have extra food, and she took up keeping an inventory, cycling dates, making prepped meal plans, and counting calories.

We have enough non-perishable foods for my wife and I to have 1,500 calories each per day for 6 weeks. We have a few water filters and four water bladder bags capable of holding 20 gallons total.
We keep two bags packed at home with 3 day supply of food, water filter, sleeping bags, toiletries, multitools, cookware and cutlery, waterproof matches, flint and magnesium sticks, tape, first aid kits, extra socks, navigational aids, and most of the stuff you would expect in a BOB or camping set. We have a simular setup in the trunk of our car with a 5 gallon water bladder, plus kitty litter in the winter.
I've always had plenty of ammo and firearms, hunting gear, and the experience needed to feed myself.
For me the biggest downside to all of this is the space it takes. We recently moved to a small apartment to finish our degrees at a university. I had to leave some extra firearms back at home in my grandpa's safe, but I brought one high power rifle, one 12ga & one 20ga shotgun, and a pistol and plenty of ammo for all. I wish I had room for my bow.
Aside from the useable space it takes up, I don't feel to crazy, and when ever we want to go camping we just grab our bags.
Currently considering selling my VR-4 as is or getting it back on the road. Really leaning towards keeping it. Share your opinion

I make sure to keep a plethora of bottled water around. From there, I can take care of myself.

LOL anyone watch doomsday prprs or what ever it was called. But you are not alone. i personally know someone that spent 79,000 on buying a shelter and a boat. Then he bought some heavy duty truck to beef up. Then a couple thousand on gun stuff and a couple thousand on food n water. When that thing in FL happened and we were at universal studios he was freaking out

I wish Doomsday preppers would get some realistic people on the show. I guess it's all about ratings and people just want to see the crazies.
That show does make me laugh.
