What I find funny is I have a large SUV, and it's actually easier to back it up with all the glass on the sides and rear, huge side mirrors and straight lines where the windows meet the doors than my car. As opposed to my Camry, which is like most new cars and has the ass end ramped up, small side windows, and blind spots galore. In it, I turn and stick my head clear out the drivers side window because I don't trust what I know I can't see. Damn near ran over a guy at Speedway a few weeks ago. He walked right through my blind spots with perfect timing. Had I not had my head out the window I would've flattened him..and it still was extremely close. Of course, he's also an idiot for not paying attention, but it would've been my fault.

I absolutely HATE the design of new cars how they rake upward towards the rear so much, with tiny little windows.

    That reaction is priceless.

I bet those kids don't see something like that everyday.

The blind spots in my Grand Prix are ridiculous. The A pillar is a huge blind spot in itself. The way the b pillar and c pillar lay out creates a massive blind spot on a 4 lane. I can look in my rear view and see a car coming and it will "disappear" for 4 or 5 seconds while it comes around me.

As for backing up I always put my window down due to the tinted windows so that helps a lot.

doesn't matter where the blind spots are. some people would crash into you while backing up on a unicycle.

not sure if it's happening in your country but apparently reversing cam's are about to become a legal requirement in Australia. (on new cars)

I've always used my mirrors for backing up, not looking out the window.
