The biggest reason for Verizon to start carrying Windows 8 Phones is to dissuade everyone from going with iPhone. As it stands now, of all the devices Verizon sells, the iPhone is the least profitable for them. I think it's cool Verizon is pushing my favorite platform as it will definitely help Windows Phone market share. However, I don't think it's about Verizon wanting to sell it based on beliefs that it's better than the other two (Android, IOS) It's all about profit and Windows Phone 8 will offer more competition against a less profitable option.

I'm mostly curious to see how many devices will be offered and by which manufacturer.

That's a stunningly close approach to genuine competition.

I know right!? I got my trophy from a guy on craigslist to save my upgrade for a WP8 device. I figured either WP is going to fail (unlikely) and Verizon will never adopt it, or it will pick up and I can stick with something I like.

I also find it hard to get mobile based news from unbiased websites...

How is the Trophy? My previous phone prior to my Droid X was a Windows phone and I loved it. I have been looking into going back to Windows, but I don't want to use my upgrade as of yet. However, there is a guy on CL selling a Trophy as well.
Your 1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL is one of 4310 that received VIN numbers. Based on the order of the serial numbers, your car was the 2685th out of the 4310 that were made that year.

Trophy is nice, its a cheap phone but you are on the latest patches, verizon just patched it.

Its no Nokia but hey I see this go for like 100$ off contract so thats not bad to try it out.

And just wait the 5 months for verizon to roll out the WP8 Nokia phones... Verizon is hell bent on fighting apple with AT&T and everyone else. Google is end arounding VZ now and went back to selling its own phones(AT&T Tmobile) only...

War is breaking out... against apple. VZ is fully on board with WP8 and AT&T is loving the WP7 head start.

Nice thing about Nokia is the free apps.

Nokia Drive(offline full turn by turn GPS, so fricking fast, its live with directions in 10 seconds)
    Executive Caddy(30$ insane golf program)
Nokia Transport(buses and trains, if your big city)
    Nokia Maps
    Nokia Imaging Editor

Throw in the free MS stuff...
    Me Tile
    Local Scout
Tag app(like shopsavy(I still use both) except it reads and translates text to different languages also, built into the search)
    Skype
    Bing Maps, turn by turn
Voice stuff(siri, visual voice mail, translate)
Office etc etc... list goes a long way...
    xbox

I would love to see WP8 have something like Zumocast and smart actions like the Motorola droid phones.

The Trophy isn't that great as far as smartphones go (I have it). It's good for being a phone, but for using apps and the keyboard it's kinda small if you use it alot. The fact that it runs smooth as butter has nothing to do with the phone and everything to do with the OS. I would wait until WP8 if I were you.
