What do people use to remove the old control arm? I am assuming no one buys the special tool. I plan to try a regular pry bar/pneumatic chisel/pb blaster.

Cheap harbor freight separator and BFH worked like a charm.

A big hammer works well for the tie rod ends. For the other end I usually cut them off. They rust in the bushings and there's really no way to get them out. You can get a sawzall in between the bushings and the bracket. Hack off each side and it'll fall right out.

Stupid question is probably stupid... do the heim joins need dust covers/boots? If so, can you put them on if I buy them .

I don't offer them but you can get them pretty cheap on ebay (I think that's where most get them). They really just slide on but I guess if you want me to buy some and slip them on I can.

If you're worried about durability I'd go with the teflon option I offer. With that, as long as you're not driving in lots of snow/salt you shouldn't have issues without covers.
