Im having trouble with A 91 VR4 after positive terminal on the battery touched hood

Im having trouble with A 91 VR4 i got, after accedentally having the positive terminal on the battery touching the hood of the car for about a minute or so I started having trouble, the car is really lacking in power, the car smokes and the fuel economy is really bad..... however the car is drivable. If I turn the ignition off after running the car, It simply will not start again without giving it a long time to "cool down"

I have already changed out the ECU with little results so any ideas would be well appreciated

Maybe the starter lead wire is shorting on the ground wire from the battery. Try and wiggle the hot power wire to the starter and move it away from teh ground and lead wires. I know at one point in time when I was on the dyno when I grounded the starter power wire to the chassi I was getting really bad interference on the ignition pickup and it was causing massive ignition signal breakups when I was testing on the dyno awhile back. Once I re-ran the wires and ensured nothing was grounding everything ran just fine. When I would turn the car off it wouldn't start either. Because I was grounding the starter wires.

Maybe that will help a little?

Hrm, maybe fuel pump relay is shorting. Have you tried running a hotwire from the battery thru a fuse straight to the fuel pump and see if it lights it off?

You have me curious, I've only seen that wreck battery's, ecu's and maybe an alternator.

Time to track down what your missing (the usual spark, fuel, timing, air)

Wouldn't hurt to double check the grounds on the firewall, behind the plenum and behind the battery. Could have melted one right off.

Those are the front 3 spark plugs. They are coverd in oil/fuel. I did clean them up and its getting good spark but the car still doesnt start!
Maby its getting to much fuel ? The smoke is black , isnt that fuel burning ? What controls the amount of fuel injected into the engine ?

Okey i put the maf from the 91 vr4 on my 95 vr4 and it drove just fine. Put the 95 maf on the 91 and no change. So we can rule out the maf sensor :/

The knock sensor wires looks like it have been disconected or the wires rubbing togeather.
Time to get new spark plugs and test it
