I have a ProClip mounted right over that clip so no holes to drill. It's a very strong mount and supports a variety of device specific holders. I have an iPhone mounted there with a pass thru dock connected to a Kenwood DNX7160 head unit. The ProClip stuff is top of the line but it's far more expensive.

I like that, how does it attach to our clip, or is it the clip that you use in place of the factory clip?

It doesn't attach to our clip at all. It clips over the frame of the console. I have one pic but it doesn't show the mount detail.

Looks like a nice idea, if not just to keep a phone in place. How is it while moving? Does it vibrate a lot, or is it fairly solid?

It moves with the bumps in the road, if I was wanting to mount a palm there for data logging, I would try to secure it better. But this is way better then letting the phone sit in the center console.

Mine is rock solid, absolutely no movement.

This is exactly how I have my logger mounted. Works and looks great IMO.

The "J" bend post is why mine has movement, it is not horrible.
