To knock, or not to knock? w/vid

So whats your guess, lifter tick (has 99 lifters)? rod knock? something else?

I store it at my parents place where I built my garage. They happened to have it completely blocked in by wood and other crap, I hope to not find any scuffs or scratches when I can get her all the way out.

The plan was today give her a good wash, polish and wax, get it state inspected and sell to a guy who had cash to give me (which is needed pretty bad atm). I am rewarded with new problems that were not there last year. I always store her in top running order, full tank of gas, and new/newer oil.

Once all my parents stuff is moved, I will be replacing oil, giving it some 15w 50 since the last oil I used was 10w30(special advance on castrol edge...) and try starting again to see if it made a difference. Until then I would still like to hear any speculation and suggestions. Thank you all

Hard to tell, let the car run till the engine is warm. Mine makes a sound like that on startup but it goes away anywhere from 1 second to a minute (lifters).

ok, that sound can be a bunch of things.

kinda sounds like a cracked exhaust or a failed lifter.

rod knock has a deep hollow "clok" noise.

I'm going with lifter tick, rod knock sounds absolutely horrible, you'd know immediately. Just let it warm up a bit and see if it goes away.

rod knock you deffinetly dont always know immedietly. In my case Ive had it where I could only hear a faint knock in a certain 500 RPM band for 2000 miles before it finally expanded all over the power band and then all the time. I cant watch the video on my work PC though.


Moral of the story is, if its a spun bearing, its probably already too late anyway so just drive it

If its been sitting all winter and this is the first start up you likely just need to let it run for awhile. A lifter might just be stuck.

step 1: change the oil and look at it.

Lots of great suggestions. Thanks for all your input. Once the stuff is moved ill replace oil let her run a while and go from there.

9/10 lifters, should go away in about 5 blocks of driving.

Mine will do the same after sitting more than three weeks...
