what exactly is the theory behind polishing a crank?

(p.s. don't wait too long. i plan to have this work done as soon as i can get enough cranks thrown together to meet the minimums).

Polishing a crank removes any slight imperfections on the surface. Imperfections that are small enough to be removed without grinding the journal to a new size. Basically any groove or gouge that you can feel with your finger tip is too much. At least this is how I perceive it. I'm no expert, but I'm always trying to learn.

Mine is getting substantially longer, day by day.

    Paint car.
    Engine bay paint.
    Re-haul engine.
    Re-locate battery.
    Re-route bnginebay harness.
    All around new lug studs/nuts.
    Shampoo carpets/seats.
    Polish remaining aluminum parts.
    Wire in Stealth rear end.
    New rotors/brakes.
    Put sterero back in.
New white stripes for the fresh paint.

    Start on Holest HX-55 mockup.

    small windshield chip
    Oil/filter
    tune up
    alignment
    Brakes
    2nd gear synchro
    Find Trans leak and fix

Connect washer nozzles and hope they work
    99 front bumper
    Race a 95 Mustang GT

(I am probably forgetting crap, but I'm tired now that it's time to get up... LMAO)
Haha, overlooked this one. Made a Spring to-do list recently.
My list is almost this long and I only have 2 months to finish it all.

Since the car is finally drivable I've started making my list:

    This spring/summer/fall:
    - Install battery strap (didn't come with one but I have one on order).
    - Install low beam HID kit (ordered)
    - Swap out standard intercooler piping hose clamps with stainless steel t-bolt hose clamps
    - Redo subwoofer (currently an Infinity Basslink that doesn't allow the glass roof to stow and has a cut up floor)
    - Clean up engine bay
    - Replace various exterior trim pieces that have rubber rot.
    - Swap existing Alpine head unit for something with more bells and whistles and more sound quality

Further down the road (maybe later this year or beginning of next year if things go right):
    - 99 front bumper, bumper inserts, corner lights
    - Repaint car
