These are from a storm that went through Omaha 2 years ago. Never a tornado, just straight through winds. Up by where I lived there were winds of 115mph+. Everything was ruined. Gas stations were torn apart and almost every tree ripped out of the ground in my neighborhood.

Just before it got into the city:

It should be as bright as early afternoon in these pictures, it went straight to darkness. Take note of how bright it was after it passed in the bottom picture.

    In front of my house:

Spent the entire duration of the storm pulled over on the side of the interstate/freeway in my trusty 3000GT SL praying that I'd live. One of the scariest moments of my life.

I've never actually been hit by a tornado directly. When I lived in a different city in Nebraska I did have the fortune of seeing three in person in one night. Storms get a LOT less fun when you can actually see them and hear the sirens going off. They destroy absolutely everything. The aftermath is simply unreal. Debris is embedded in EVERYTHING. You'll see random items like a spoon that is wedged a few inches deep into an electric pole.

There has always been a little piece of me that has wanted to chase tornadoes. I think seeing them up close would be breathtaking. I would not want to live in the midwest and be subject to them though. I can only imagine the destruction they can leave behind.
