    Benefits: two less coolant lines.
Drawbacks: piss poor idle on cold start.

Why anyone would want to delete the FIAV is beyond me. If it isn't working properly, fixing it is easy.

It just makes removal and reinstallation of the TB/intake manifold extremely quick and easy.

From what I've seen, at cold-start, my A:F goes rich... Like 11:1 for a few seconds and then over a minute or two it steadily rises to 14.7:1. It idles well, just rich, and only for a minute. Frankly, I've got such limited WBO2 experience, I'm not sure this is abnormal. Either way, I don't see any reason to reinstall my FIAV.

Yes it can. Over time the spring can become loose or damaged. Another thing that can cause this is leaking o-rings in the throttle body plate, but other symptoms tend to follow it (slight vacuum/boost leak).

If you decide to replace the o-rings, be careful with the throttle plate screws. They are in there pretty tight and you can easily strip the heads out.
