This is how they look with the cover on and white dials.

Heh.
Did a '67 tri-power 427 Vette for a fellow once - he wanted gauges, I asked which, he said, "I'll bring 'em, you mount 'em."
Temp and press for everything, L & R head temps, the works...I think it was something like 7 more than just volts, OT, CT...I never imagined how bad it could have been if he'd been force-fed.
It has it's appeal, I don't care what anyone says.![]()
Ranked No. #1 in initial quality
Idiots, simply by being idiots, seem capable of achieving randomly bad things that are beyond the imaginings of sensible people.
1. Volts, 2. Fuel press, 3. Water Temp, 4. Oil Press, 5. Oil Temp, 6. Boost, 7. AFR, 8. Serial Guage (set to AIT), 9. WI monitor, 10. EGT 1, 11. EGT 2.

Late to this thread, but, IMHO:
As an "old schooler", I distrust electric/electronic gauges. Here's what I have:
On my 4 gauge pillar pod:
1. Oil Pressure. Simply the most important gauge to have, period.
2. Boost. Mine has vacuum and goes to 30 psi boost.
3. Fuel pressure. This gauge is electric/electronic because fuel in the passenger compartment is a fire hazard.
4. A/F ratio from my WB O2.
In addition to these, I have the stock oil pressure and coolant temperature. Stock boost gauge is still there, but doesn't work as the car has an AEM. All the aftermarket gauges are AutoMeter Phantom IIs with blue lighs in place of the ones Autometer sends. The A/F is AEM.
Oil pressure is vital to help you limit the carnage when your motor lets go. As it will, someday.
Boost gauge and fuel pressure are primarily diagnostic. Changes in fuel pressure point you to a whole host of fuel system problems that make the engine run bad (or cause engine carnage mentioned above). Having vacuum on the boost gauge alerts you to vacuum leaks/boost leaks. Fuel pressure under the hood is good, but doesn't allow you to diagnose the fuel system under load.
As for the aesthetic merits of pods vs. stock or steering column mounts, I say:
1. Steering mount means I block something on the main gauge cluster. Not something I want to do.
2. Driving the car with any measure of safety (at least for me), limits my "range of vision". The center gauge cluster falls outside of my range. I care a lot less for how the gauges look than how they help me keep the motor together.
Old guy, old ideas. Sorry.
All fair points, Milt.
I've got my scanmaster right in front of me to help with keeping the motor together.
The only complaint I've got is that since I set it to display the WBO2 output instead of the NBO2 output, at WOT, it changes so often that I have a much harder time tracking it than I did with NBO2's. I need to make it round to the nearest whole number or something

That is where my scanmaster will be going as well.
July 2014 COTMWe follow the earth. The earth follows the stars. The stars know their way and though the body dies. The stars will remain, like the waves of the sea and restless slate.
I'm not much for info, but I'd say Adam is spot on with what you need, and FUCK prosport, DO NOT go with them AT ALL...my old 3S oil pressure crapped out, was the sending unit, installed a new sender, then gauge went, then sending unit...I still have a brand new in box second oil pressure gauge, you can have for free plus shipping if you want it ha, I was gonna hack it and throw it away.
Secondly, p/h/w I say, is a must, regardless of racing or not...there was a time when I was drivin and I just so happened to look at my water temp and was well above 200 degrees, I was lucky enough to have been glancing over at my gauges to see my temp out of safe range...thermostat went...
There use to be a lot of threads against prosports quality...you get what you pay for, and they're still one of, if not the cheapest gauge available still.
I was thinking of AEM digital read outs for my next car, easy to read, quality and accurate
