Question N/A RT 16" wheels on a TT

What are the potential risks here? Let's assume these are true take-offs(wheel/tire combo) from a non turbo RT. Are we talking about damaged VCU territory, or a speedo/tach that reads incorrectly?

I was unsure if the rolling diameter would make a difference. They're all matched to each other, so I ASSume it would be ok, but figured I'd poll the forum for info.

You will be fine if the tires are all within a few mm of each other in diameter.
Also all 3s 16x8's clear 1st gen TT brakes!

    Thanks!

I knew they cleared the brakes fine, just wanted to make sure there was no potential damage from running them rather than the stock 17's.

r/t is correct. rolling diameter is virtually identical between all stock sizes.

Speedo/tach issues aside, I've always wondered why a VCU should care what the tire diameters are as long as they're equal.

All it knows is that it's turning, right?

correct. if the rolling diameters are all the same--it doesn't matter if they're 3" or 3'.

What I thought; can't remember who told me that to begin with, but it always seemed a bit counter-intuitive...
