and that is why i think a nice "bulged" hood would do the trick. the 2g hoods already have a logical place in the center where you could mod the hood to give more clearance. doesn't have to have a cowl, just enlarge the center part so you can fit more between the valve covers and the hood. it wouldn't even alter the lines of the car very much.

Also looks worthless for a 3S.....just sayin![]()
So I spent some more time on this. My friend said that if I could design something in draftsite he could waterjet it for me. I installed it but gave up after spending half an hour trying to make an 4x4" square. So I went to my trusty program MS Paint and made something out of cardboard that I could test fitIt does hit the rear valve cover as is. I don't know how thick a plenum spacer is but I either need to add a thick enough spacer on top of the lower intake, or redesign the intake. Maybe if I make the angled piece that go up to the surge area a little longer or added a spacer there it would clear just fine. I wish the NA lower was 1/4" longer. I could also just chop a TT plenum since I plan on welding it all together anyways.
Also need to figure out what size TB opening. Searching Q45 I see 80/82/85/90mm openings come up. My intake piping is 3" so 80mm would be 3.14" Should I stick to that or are there benefits to going bigger?

You can see here that the surge area is sitting higher than I want it. I can't push it down because of the rear valve cover. It needs to go down enough so that the top of the runner flange is flush with the cardboard mounting surface.
If I pull it away this far it would clear everything.

Nice work!
Think the 3SX phenolic spacer is like 1/4" thick. Not sure if that would give you enough clearance or not.
