Thread: TD04 Hard Pipe and/or FMIC Surge Issue Thread

  1. #171
You have a 19T turbo though corect? I think the dr750 wheel is slightly bigger so some machining to the Kinugawa td04 antisurge housing would need to be done. I may try it someday, but it's a pretty big investment. How much did they cost? Assuming around $400 shipped for both housings? Then you need their brand billet wastegates as the forge ones DR sells won't bolt up to them. Then you need a big pair of snaprings, and new intake pipes as the inlet is a lot bigger now. They look really nice and I'd love to try them. However I'm hoping someone else will before me on dr750s. Then Matt from DR can buy/mil/sell them on his website For now KC's fix is working. We have snow up here so my car is put away for winter now. I'm going to be working on a bigger throttlebody, bigger intake over winter. Not so much for surge prevention but for more power.

They have a 20T anti-surge housing also. I asked them to put one up in case I needed to upgrade later on. The compressor inducer is 47.04mm same as DR-750. If someone measures the exducer I can tell you if it's the same since the 20T is 58mm. From there it may be a different profile for the blades. It wouldn't be a cheap investment unless it became a last resort honestly. The bigger compressor housings will definitely help with flow and boost efficiency.

Im looking at their 20t comp housings for my 50/64 wheels as they surge like a mother for the volume they suck vs their spool.

We're currently attempting to meet in the middle

Hx52 billet 67mm comp wheel, 350Z headers, Custom 4" exhaust, STM avenger intake mod, Denso 1250's, twin walbro 400's, dual pump/dual feed braided lines from tank to rails,Tial 50mm BOV, Tial 60mm wg, Spec 4+ with hub welded and balanced, Rays Bellhousing brace, flash ECU with openport 2.0 tune, MSD coils with KB boost a spark, MSD race ignition wires, Odyssey PC680, CX racing fmic 1000hp core 28x12x4, ABS delete, EGR delete, AC delete, cruise delete, pansy patrol pulley reduction, Vac reduction

My surge fix is cheaper than 2 housings and will not restrict top end HP. Just sayin.

Blow through setups are priced at $350 shipped. fastfalcon94 knows I'm not making much on that and if I can get enough interest and the moderation staff here would answer my quest to become verified I would open a group buy and drive that price down even lower. I sent a verification notice over a freaking month ago stating a question with 0, zip, zilch for a response. I have had a few interested and the price is always the breaking point but I find it wildly amusing that others found intrest in the housing swap which if you do an short internet search hurts top end HP and costs more. I amazed!!!! I have 2 setups using the worst surging turbos and my setup runs on raised compression which amplifies surge even worse. It is proven to work and yes I am withholding the details to make a little $. BTW, my setup doesn't hold back power potential at all. Here's the proof!!!!!!

Im not worried about peak power so much as useable fun power, and I'm not saying you're fix doesn't work, but i think you'll have a hard time getting people to pay for something they have no pictures of, or even a clue to what it is.....just my 2 cents.

    kywhitelighting i have 2 questions
    1. is your surge fix that steam solenoid valve with air filter with vaccum line going onto the rear turbo intercooler pipe thats in your photobucket right next to your dyno videos? just curious. notice you had tons of pics of that. looks neat. is that it?

    2. you mention you had surge issues during dyno pulls. i thought your fix eliminated any surges. or was that only for cruising? by the way great job on new record! sweet!
