    Driving shoes really make a difference? I have always worn thin soled Converse or something similar and never had problems missing a heel-toe or slippage.

    Meh, probably not in all honesty. I do love the roll heal though. They just seem to fit me really well and hold up for a very long time. I wear a pair every day.
