1) This sort of thing is extremely rare, even for the US, so generalizing about how kids were raised, etc. isn't a legitimate explanation as the majority of those kids didn't shoot up a school.

So, yeah - even thinking about it is a waste of time, huh?

2) I say its early, because suicides and other destructive behaviour such as this tends to increase in the springtime. Its possible that the attacker was planning a suicidal end to this, but that has yet to be proven.

But we can think about it in a few months?

3) It is also possible that the shooter has some sort of physical brain damage, as has been the case in other spree shooters such as Charles Whitman.

I wouldn't go around suggesting broadsweeping ways to stop such violence, because its not the majority of people that are affected by current conditions, only a minority, and I think its more important to figure out what made them snap, as opposed to your average teenager.

While I wouldn't mind teachers being allowed to carry, you have to be 21 to obtain a CHL in TX, so that would be senior year for most people or after graduation for some. Not much point to allowing it IMO. I also wouldn't want to have a situation where someone with a CHL in a dorm for example had their gun stolen by another student, I can see that happening all too easily.

Sounds like a good compromise to me! Allow teachers and professors to carry if they have CHL's.

Not a waste of time, but your thoughts on it are hardly proportional to the damage done...far more people commit suicide, far more die from accidents, etc...yet how much time, in your mind, is devoted to reducing such deaths, in comparison to this incident?

It depends...having an abnormality in your insular cortex would change what you characterize as wrong or disgusting behaviour, but killing another person can happen on an ideological level (ie having no problem killing a thief, where it is legal, even though they present no physical risk to your person), without the need for brain damage.
