    Tires/Wheels for a 700hp setup

Hey guys, I was talking in chat the other day and thought I would make a thread about it.

What would be a good set of tires for a 17x9.5 wheel. Looking for good traction on the street and also in the rain.

Let me know what you guys think. I don't know much about tires.

If you're looking for a great all season tire, I'd highly recommend the continental DWS's. They stick to anything, wet, dry or frozen, and with 40k on mine, I'm pretty confident these are the first tires I've owned in 37 years of driving that I'll get 70k+ on...
In 17's they should be pretty reasonable, price wise.

I had good experiences with these in a 255/45/17. I managed to cut a 1.6 60' on an unprepared concrete track with them. They are pretty good in the wet too.

Cont. DWS all day every day!!! They are one of the very few UHP 4 season tire and they stick like glue and are all around prefect tires for the street.

Not sure how well they do in the wet, but Hankook RS3's and Nitto NT01's are decently sticky for "street/cheater slick" tires, but are mostly designed for track work so not sure how well they work in a drag/autoX enviroment. If you're truly trying to stick 700HP down, I wouldn't even be shopping anything in a harder compound than the Star Specs.

I've been real happy with the Hankook Ventus V12 evo's. Been really good in the rain and seem pretty damn good when it's cold out also.

Well of course they might one up them due to the fact that they are a summer tire and the DWS are a 4 season (not All season) Im just going by my own experience and from riding in my buddies 10sec evo and even in the snow the DWS's didnt want to spin very much without a lot of persuasion.
