It really sucks having good used parts and not being able to sell them...

Many of you like myself have been modding these cars for awhile. As we mod our cars and upgrade the sheer volume of parts we've accumulated and/or, "needed to save for later", becomes overwhelming. Their sheer volume and moving them becomes a burden and a potentially huge storage problem. So what do you do?

First, you think about how much money is sitting there that's shamefully been converted into paperweights. Second, you stare at a pile of good parts that you can't afford to store. Third, you remember the opportunity cost involved with the part, maybe a painful install story, or a reciept that made your heart stop. Next, you think about what it's worth. Fourth, you think about how a big space can suddenly seems so small. Finally, as painful as it seems, you try and sell all of it or separate yourself from some, if not all, of what your friends and wives would call "junk".

I've assessed my situation and come to make a decision. I decided to salvage what I could and make some money, because I refuse to forever live like a pack rat hoarder bitch. Let it be known, I tried and tried to sell pieces of this always garaged car along with many other parts, alas they did not sell. Some of you are like me and sitting on piles of good shit but guess what... you'll never sell it!

So what does one do with their parts or stack-o-shit in the garage.....

    Get the sawzall!

What is this "Sawzall"? It's a pupose built demolition tool used to cut shit in half quikly. More to follow this afternoon... pics and metal recycling numbers.

Yeah, I've still got a couple large boxes full of parts myself, not to mention my stock hood is hanging from the ceiling of my parents garage, and my working, active exhaust has been in their attic for about a decade now. Hell, I've got stock parts from a Jeep Liberty I no longer own, a Boxster S I don't have anymore, and a Cayenne S as well.

LOL Almost forgot, I still have a complete cylinder head from my old Talon TSi sitting in my parents shed, along with other misc. parts.

Every time I go through that stuff though, I think, "I'm gonna need that as soon as it's gone..."

If you were closer you could drop the stuff off at my warehouse. We do commission based sales to save people the hassle of having to deal with getting rid of their "junk".

Crusher was going to pay $.06 per lb for steel. Junkyard offered me $150. Atlas recycling offered me $.10 per lb for un-prepped steel or .$18 per lb for prepped steel (steel cut into 4' sections or smaller). I'm cutting it all down. Even cutting off tires. Got my first truckload. It's the front end of my rolling chassi. It's in about 20 pieces and I'm over the rail. I'm hoping for atleast $1000 today in scrapping copper, aluminum, tungston, titanium, and steel.

Von fit an entire 3S into his truck bed after cutting it up, lol. Small pieces. Plasma cutter and gas powered demo saw > Sawzall, lol. Me? I just cut mine in half to pull the AWD conversion and hardtop roof off of it and took it as the whole thing. I got less for it being it wasn't separated and had glass and stuff in it, but still got over $400.

We take them as full chassis and fill them with other scrap steel. We usually get $12-14/100 lbs that way. Usually nets about $300 for a load. I haven't taken a load with my 2 car trailer yet, but that may change next week. I'd love to do $1000 in a single load.

The old man across the street from the shop has a home made trailer. When I had the fork lift at the shop for installing the dyno I had loaded 7 full cars. He had said he got a $3500 check on that one load lol.
