Quick, Temporary Paint Soloutions?

Hey guys, as many of you know I had done a Stealth conversion to my GTO and ended up with white front and rear quarter panels, roof, and side skirts/door caps. I cant afford to have the car painted until around fall and am going to have to drive the car all summer, I would really like to have a single paint scheme happening on the car again but need just a simple alternative to a full booth/gun paint job for now.

I'm wanting to get the white panels done in the proper R-38 red with aerosol cans for now (Until I get it painted in the fall) but I can't get it unless I order it from Vancouver. If I go that route... It's going to cost me a small fortune to do just that, at $48 per can, and a four week wait for them to get here.

So... does anyone know of a red that is VERY similar to our Firestorm/Passion red, that is normally readily available? Any other suggestions of what I could do are also certainly welcome.

P.S.

Please don't flame me for this, I know exactly what's going on and don't want to hear about "Why not just paint the car" I would if I could right now.

it would probably be cheaper to go out and by a cheap gravity feed paint gun and run it off a compressor and get a 1/2 gallon of single stage paint if your just wanting it to be the same color and not worried about the finish

That's what I would do.

Don't even need to buy a cheap gun. Rent a good gun, spray away. Even an outside "full of dust and dirt" spray would then be a tacky paint job, but would achieve your aim.

Well, I already have three different guns and a compressor to use, as well as a good shop with all supplies to build my own booth if need be, but getting the paint job done is the problem... I'm not very good at the prep work and mixing of the products.

It will still come out better than rattle cans and you will learn a bit also. Lots of info on line about prep work and it just needs to get you by until later in the year.

single stage is easy to mix. Just get the mixing cups with the lines on them for the right ratio the paint calls for. It's usually just the paint, reducer, and activator... then spray.

I would definitely spend $200 on some red paint with supplies and get it done better than any rattle can job can do. Red is a real hooker in single stage. It will stick to EVERYTHING. So, make sure you cover things well.

Just a quick update on this, I took some paint chips in and did some comparisons along side several different reds and came up with a match that I could just barely tell a difference with. It's GM's Torch Red, I just painted my spoiler with this color and couldn't really even see myself that they were two different colors. I'll post some pictures of comparisons and install tomorrow when I have some sunlight to do it in.
