there's no point in destroying something you paid good money for. and if it's something the KID paid for, then the parent has even LESS authority to destroy it.

the ONLY reason to do this to any type of item is because one is having an "office space" moment. otherwise, gtfo.

pc load letter? WTF does that mean?

Can't believe you, of all people, are missing the point.

    Oh, well.

My wife and I went opposite directions on this one. She felt it was wrong the way he went about parenting, whereas I laughed about it. I personally wouldn't destroy the laptop like that since in my house it would have been my money that paid for it. Instead, I would have completely disassembled it to each and every core component and tossed it in a box. That way, whenever I decided the kid could have the laptop back, I wouldn't have to pay for anything. Then again I'm cheap like that.

True story: One of my coworkers has himself a problem child. Kid was playing on his Nintendo DS when his mom called him to go do chores. Boy didn't listen. Dad told the boy "If you don't listen to your mom right now, I'm going to throw that game out the window." Boy didn't budge. DS then proceeded to fly out the window with enough force that multiple pieces went into the street. Boy listened to dad every time he was told to from then on, even though he had to replace the DS since it was a gift from the boy's grandma.

I guess a question I have for parents is:

Why does your kid need THEIR OWN laptop? (...and most likely plus a smart phone....and possibly plus an iPad...?)

When I was that age, I needed it for school. I also paid for it myself.
"This is a ridiculous cause and effect suggestion."
"Yeah, kind of like the sun rising and then morning happening, eh? What are they trying to pull on us?"

"If I wanted to hear from an asshole, I'd fart into a microphone."

"It's easy. Take the last f*ck, and let it go, and thus you shall have no more f*cks to give."

    Then here's another question:

If you needed it for school...okay.

But you didn't need it for anything else, so why not lock it up every day after school and retrieve it every morning?

    And the cell phone?

    What about that?
