some sohc problems

First for some reason my tach isn't reading at all.
The car has had this problem the whole time i've owned it.

Second is it possible to change the valve seals without pulling the heads?

Third do you have to pull the engine or pull the oil pan to change the oil pump?

If I remember right the tach signal comes off the pick up in the distributor.

Not sure on the valve seals, but I assume by fasioning a tool you can do it with the heads installed

No you do not have to pull the engine to pull the pan or oil pump. You have to take out the downpipe, starter, engine to trans stays, ac pump, etc. Its a pain in the ass, but I've done it.
