    Fitting FD3 wheels, spacer question...

Finally found a set of Mazda FD3 wheels after a painstaking search... They won't clear TT front calipers so I'm going with spacers, only question is how big of a spacer can I order before needing to extend the threads? I want to avoid doing this...

    Thanks.

it depends on the wheel. The max you can run is about 5mm. On my car 5mm left it with BARELY enough thread engagement. 6.5-6.75 turns. You need 6.5 turns minimum.

I ran that way for a year or so, but switched to longer studs to be safer. I got the shortest extended studs 3sx had and now i think there is like 12 turns, much safer.

If you are in the 10mm neighborhood you really need longer studs. I wouldn't really feel good about running 10mm flat spacers ass your are no longer hubcentric. 5mm is about all you can go and still have the hub center the wheel.

Thanks, I really doubt 5mm will be enough, looks like our cars weren't meant to sport 14lbs wheels, too bad...
