As this car and FRS are being purposefully overbuilt for post-factory modifications I see good things in the future for both models. What has me confused is what the actual differences in the FRS and BRZ are.

IF the engine bay is too cramped, another possibility is a rear mounted turbo, like the Corvette STS kits, granted they have removable fiber glass fenders and I doubt the "Toyoobie Doo!" has them, but its a thought. Most likely I could see a compact supercharger setup finding a home in that low cramped engine bay. From the looks of the engine bay in the photo though, there doesnt seem to be a lot of room on the sides, and with the engine tucked back slightly under the chassis to center the weight, it might make snaking a turbo up above a tricky endeavor vs its turbo porsche/subaru engine relatives, possibly a fair amount of space between the top of the block and the bottom of the hood due to its low/rearward placement like a Vette/general modern LSx series car, but it would be a squeeze to get a turbo in THAT engine bay with the battery in the stock location. It's a quirky car with a bargain price tag so far, definitely potential to be crazy fun, additionally did anyone note it uses the same tranny as the lexus IS350, popular platform for say, @ 2JZ swap on the tranny, so perhaps there maybe options that way with some serious subframe/mount work?
