But, based on some searching:

$275 for a 4G63 exhaust manifold

~$700 for an EJ exhaust manifold

I'm surprised it's only $700.

And it's a 4 cylinder, heads should be cheap.

$1100 for stage 2 4G63 head: (first place I could find) SIM 4G63 Cylinder head Stage 2

$2800 for stage 2 EJ heads: (first place I could find) Built EJ :: 04-07 STI :: Engine :: Cylinder heads

If I'm going to get a 4 cylinder, I'd prefer it be the simpler 4 cylinder. Potato.

yea i have sone valve adjustments , cam swaps and timing belts on a handful of ej's and their not bad at all exhaust mani is super easy to get to , their intimidating at first glance but not bad. same as a 3/s this is what keeps my shade tree buisness in buisness
