Suspect with a Crowbar is Shot Outside a Carls Jr

After a 2nd viewing, there's a couple loud F bombs that get dropped when the perp gets shot, that I didn't pick up on the first time. Be advised.

I call that excessive use of force.

Yeah, they shot at him 10 times! That's ridiculous from what I can see just in this video. Dude had a stick/crowbar/something and just acted like he was going to hit the cop (I'm sure he intended to) but shooting him 10 times point blank, really?!?

He had already been hit with mace and a taser(apparently pulled the prongs out) so he was probably high on something crazy. I would think cops, like the military, are trained to shoot to kill, not wound. Also, both officers fired exactly 5 shots, which could be part of their training as well.

While I don't think they needed to shoot him in that situation, if a cop starts shooting they don't stop till the job is done. If they have decided lethal force is necessary... they are going to make sure its lethal. I have heard of guys that were doped up taking as many as 10 9mm center mass and still fighting for a while.

Even still, there is nothing more valuable you can take from a person than their life, it's just something I do not agree with doing. I know many will disagree with me on that (and yes, I know there are plenty of people the world is better off without) but I just don't think it's a decision for us to make (I am not religious either, so it has nothing to do with a supreme being's judgement either.) It may just be that I put a higher value on life than others though, I don't know.

Using a gun is deadly force, when deadly force is needed, it is by definition "deadly". There is no shooting to wound. It's the guys fault. If you look right before shots were fired, the guy looked like he was gonna swing that crowbar, and the partner was securing the mace, and wouldn't be able to defend himself at that moment. Deadly force was justified IMO.

A crowbar to the head is deadly force, too, fellas. I'm siding with the cops on this until I see something else.

Same here. Like the recent story in south Texas about the cops shooting a middle school kid who refused to put down his airsoft gun. The cops don't know what they don't know and if you're dumb enough to ignore police directions to comply . . . well we all know what happens.

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.” -- Author Unknown

The perp definitely showed intent of coming to harm the officer with a deadly weapon (a crow bar). Cop had every right to shoot him. As has been said, you don't shoot to wound. You shoot to stop the threatening person/s as quickly as possibly, which happens to be by vital shots. As far as the crow bar goes, one swing with that thing can easily kill a person.
