    My Alpine HU is insane...

For no apparent reason, my slide out touchscreen IVA-D310 stopped responding to touch input randomly while driving. Then the volume controls stopped having any effect. I tried powering it down and it wouldn't power back up. instead the screen stays dark, slides out like it about to power up, fails, slides back in halfway, stops and loops. Anyone know what the hell would cause this?

Yup. I'm thinking it might be just because it's old.

I'm guessing the easiest way to test that would be to pop in another HU?

mostly check the cabling running from your existing head unit and make sure it's all secure

Well, if you're not getting a proper charge then the radio will be the first thing to freak out. Been there and done that.

Well, looks like I've got another project. And thing is, I replaced my alternator sometime within the last year.

Well considering the IVA has a working voltage of 7.2 to 16V I stated its playing up, especially with what it is doing... Have you started the car!!!
