    Valve Cover Baffle

I recently got my intake manifold and front valve cover powder-coated, they did a great job but I have one issue. I stuck my finger under the baffle as much as possible and can feel some "grit" under it. I know that they sand blasted everything and Im afraid that there is sand under the baffle. Aside from flushing it out about 10,000 times (which I plan on doing) Is there anything else I can do? Remove the baffle, clean and reinstall it?

    Thanks
    -Josh

That's the problem with stuff like that. Some jerk puts it into a blast booth without protecting the vents and hours/days later you have a pretty coating and a 1/4 pound of glass bead hidden in the valve cover. I'm sorry I can't be more help but I would be scared to use it without a lot of flushing.

Subscribe, I blasted mine too and am not content with flushing. I've heard you can drill it off but how does one re install it?

Edit, I covered all the inlets but one came off and I.didn't notice it before it was too late.

Flush it, flush it, and flush it some more.

I've been nervous about bead blasting my valve covers for this very reason. I'd use water and a hose to flush it out and then use an air hose to blow it out well.

^I used brake cleaner, plus lots of flushing with soap and water.

This has me thinking about about it, where did you get your valve covers powdercoated? I really like the color of yours

This is why I use paint stripper on my valve covers. I sandblasted one and thought stuff this, for the $50 they are worth 2nd hand it's not worth ruining an engine for.

OR, drill out the spot welds, clean it up, and get them spot welded back in? (just an idea??)

I soda blast all of my valve covers. Sand/bead blasting destroys the soft aluminum. Soda is easy to rinse BTW. I would suggest flushing with oil and an air hose. Let it sit in oil...blow out the sand. Then, repeat all over until you see absolutely nothing.

James (forum name Jaitch) on GTOOC drilled his out, cleaned the gauze and reattached the cover. Not sure how but you could ask him direct.
