    Timing Belt Problem

I was timing my engine today and everything was lined up and tensioned great. I went to turn the engine over and got about 1 turn and it stopped. Now I can't turn it either direction.

I have jackhammer gears and followed the instructions careful.

What is my next step? I can't turn the motor backwords because the bolt just comes out and I can't turn it by the cams. I pulled the rear valve cover off and can't see anything unusual.

What's the next step? I obviously don't want to bend any valves...

I'm timed these cars a bunch of times and never had a problem like this.

Pull the plugs out to relieve compression to see if that helps you any.

Check your cam caps you could have flip flopped one of them causing the cams to bind...

they are out. It was turning just like normal before I ran into the hard spot. If I loosen the tensioner a bit the cams will wiggle no problem.

the cams aren't bound, were turning freely before with no rockers.

ok I've timed this thing 3 times now. Each time it is dead on. I get about one crank turn and one of the rear rockers clicks and it won't turn anymore. Anyone have any ideas?

gee I'm a moron. I found one rocker on backwords on each head. Fixed that and it spins over like a dream. I have one came a tooth off, but I'll retime it tomorrow and it should be ok. It was never rotated out of time, so the valves should be ok.

This is just a suggestion, but are the intake and exhaust cams in the right location on the heads? Did it turn over okay without the heads?
    Great build, good luck!

well checked 3 cylinders out with the leakdown tester. bad news. I guess I bent the valves somehow 80-90% leakdown... I don't understand how they bent and I can hear compression when I try to turn it over. I'm confused...
