Are you tired of piggyback tuning that constantly needs re-tweaking? Tired of the induced timing problems associated with large fuel injectors? Wouldn't it be nice if you could just tell the ECU that you replaced the stock injectors with something larger? Now you can. Tell me which injector size you want, and I'll program that info into the flashable ECU and then it's as simple as plug and play. How expensive is this solution? After purchasing this flashable ECU and selling your old ECU, this upgrade cost could cost you less than $100. Next you have the option of selling your existing piggyback fuel controller, or keep using it.
Selling my spare unit:
A rare flashable 1998 3000GT DOHC SL ECU & 1994-1995 ECU conversion harness. I will reflash the ECU for your injector size, disable fuel-cut, and if you want the rev limiter increased, or target idle raised, I can do that for you as well.
The 98/99 3000GT VR4 is the ideal ECU and is also extremely rare, but you're not likely to find any and will have to pay several hundreds more if you do find one. The next best ECU is the 3000GT DOHC SL ECU because no circuit modifications are needed (unlike Montero and Diamante ECUs), and only reflashing the twin turbo software needs to be done (which I will perform).
There are four circuits missing from the DOHC SL ECU when compared to the DOHC VR4 ECU and they are:
(1) No low/high fuel pump relay control (most people hotwire theirs anyways),
(2) No fuel pressure solenoid control (most people disconnect this anyways),
(3) No boost gauge
(4) No boost control
Price is $525, shipping included. If you send paypal payment as a gift, deduct 3% and you keep the savings.
SOLD
About a seven weeks ago I sold my stock 1993 twin turbo ECU for $450 on ebay, so this upgrade didn't cost much at all for me. You can continue to use your existing piggy back fuel controllers for minor adjustments, or sell them away. Personally I sold my Emanage ultimate away because it was no longer needed and reduced the clutter.
p.s. Those cheaper and plentiful 98 SOHC ECU found on ebay will not work because they differ too much (different knock circuit, different crankshaft detection). Also beware the sellers on ebay as they are confused; selling a VR4 ECU when in fact it's non-turbo ECU, selling a DOHC ECU when in fact it's a SOHC ECU. The sellers refuse to correct their listings.
p.s. If you need a conversion harness for a different year model, I can build a new conversion harness in 1-2 days.
