saw something about this the other day. increasing wages overseas & stagnant or dropping wages here have caused some companies to move jobs back to CONUS.

me. at some point, the global market will reach relative equilibrium, coaxing companies to keep all production domestic (regardless of origin). wages don't have to reach parity for this--but they do need to be of sufficient amount (plus the cost of shipped goods) to offer financial benefit to a company to outsource. as the world continues to shrink, this is the way things will go.

Yup. Eventually, Americans will realize that even though we're "losing jobs" to china and india, Americans are still benefiting. We have way too much wealth for how little we actually produce in the grand scheme of things. The poverty line in America is what 20 actual working people live on, in india.

Tell me again why we waste so much money on teachers unions in the US when there are students are so desperate to learn elsewhere. It's the most unfair thing we can do as a human race.

I saw this piece on discovery or science where these 2 children and their father hiked and mountain climbed for 4 days through treacherous mountains and frozen rivers to get to school. There were pieces of rebar driven into the side of this cliff that they climbed down and a frozen river with only enough room for one child to slide on their belly. The ice cracked as they went by and the father said if you fall in the water you only have 8 minutes to live.

Until you fix this:

You won't be able to fix our education system. People need to accept that academics are a lot like sports, some people can be the starting quarterback and some people just can't.
