Awesome exhaust setup. I'm filing this under "Best Ideas Ever".

I had an idea so ridiculously amusing that I didn't want to post about it until I confirmed it was worthy. Well, it works, and is quite possibly the most hilarious, shit-eating-grin-inducing mod I've done in a while.

My exhaust is an extremely quiet (and therefore restrictive) custom setup. I wanted to get a cutout for the on-demand performance boost. So I purchased one of these:

It's a simple, electronic motor-actuated butterfly valve. I could have installed a switch in the cab, but then I'd have to, you know, flip it.

So I wired it in and set the AEM to trigger the cutout when the TPS is ~95% or higher. Any time I go WOT, the valve opens and I get an instant HP gain and accompanying thunderous exhaust note. "Visceral" would be an understatement - I can't help but giggle like a school girl every time I floor it. It's retarded.

I was originally a little concerned this would be annoying for daily driving, but it's a total non-issue. I find I never go WOT just driving around; it's always a conscious decision.

Can it get any better? Oh yes it can. Combine this with the 2-step, and you have the recipe for some seriously funny antics. Guy at the stoplight revs his engine at you? Wants to race? Clutch and gas to the floor - revs bouncing off the 2-step limiter - but because the TPS is maxed, the butterfly opens and all of a sudden the purring kitten he challenged is a screaming dragon, hell-bent on destroying his ego and the eardrums of any unfortunate passers-by.

    Price: 10/10
    Performance: 10/10
    Police Attraction Factor: 11/10
    Verdict: Recommended

Thought about doing this with a pressure actuator, but have been too lazy.

I've had this on my 92 TT for a few years now. I got mine from IPS. It is very cool to have!

Sounds fun Justin! How long does it stay open after you let off? I don't think I would want it to slam shut in between shifts. I like it though

That brief in-between state isn't even noticeable. If I wanted to get really clever with it I could have it stay open at certain high-RPM conditions.

Nice, I like the way you think!

I would do something like this but I think the 10 point rollcage and 280 cams will already give it away that I dont have a stock car lol
