Sears store closing sale.

The Sears store near me is closing and I figured I drop in and see what they had in the tool section. Wound up picking up a Dewalt 18V 1/2in impact gun with 2 batteries and charger for $255
and a Craftsman 10" buffer for $43

Not a bad deal on both. Might be worth checking if there are any Sears closing in your area. They had plenty of hand and power tools in stock. (I also picked up a 10mm deep socket, can never have enough of those)

tools have always been a staple of sears but when they switched to being made in china they were done...summit racing now has sears tools but the guys on a lot of car forumns know they are now being made in china. check wright tools for a quality tool made in the usa.

Well, I'm not a professional mechanic, so I don't need to have the best tools, I just need to have the right tools to do the job. Harbor Freight, Home Depot, Lowes or Sears, if it's cheap and I think I need it, I'll buy it.

There can be some worthwhile cheap stuff, depends on what it's used for..
True, a lot of craftsman is made in china now, but I can go to the store and get it replaced without a hassle and prices are reasonable. I can understand a professional mechanic needing something a bit nicer but I haven't broken any of my craftsman tools so far (course I didn't buy their crap ratchets).

I've seen too many sockets crack and break over the course of my life to ever buy any cheap ones again. I have Snap-on sockets for most things, for some of my more commonly used sockets, I upgraded to impact grade stuff. Still, I'll have to check if there's any stores closing near me, I want to get an edger, and maybe some more workout stuff.

I have that same buffer, and I would like to save you from disappointment. It sucks, I used it once. It might be good for boats or buses, but sucks to use on cars.

I used already April, and it worked just fine for me. I have a Porter Cable random orbit polisher that I use for applying polishes and waxes and I use the buffer to remove the wax and polish. I got really good results on my Infiniti and buffed out a lot of the swirl marks.
