    Tinted turns and tails

It's funny, I've owned a 3/S for about 15 years and never once did much for exterior mods. Not including the SSG paint job to my DR500 car anyway...

Few months ago I went to southern DE to hang out with Todd and Jason Y. Todd owns a 98 VR4 identical to my old one. The car is/was completely stock except for one thing... The tinted tails and turns.

Looked really good on his car. Very suddle. One of those details that you don't really notice right away.

The day I got my 98, I stopped back to Todd's along the way. Funny thing, his VIN is one off from mine. Both these cars were made the same day! Twins reunited since birth!

Anyway, not a few hours after I got the car, we had a few drinks and I got the grand idea to tint my tails as well. Todd had some leftover NiteShades so I went to work.

    Tedious buffing, cleaning and masking...

    Sprayed and drying!

    Installed!

Looked awesome! I was pleased. As payment for Chroming the ECU in Todd's 98, he gave me a set of clear turns. Installed them at the same time but wasn't really happy with the way they looked on the car. Was going to spray tint them but then I found out the same company that makes these turns also make smoked versions. They were on sale for $47 shipped! Nabbed them in a hurry and got them just 2 days later.

    Car looks fantastic!

The lenses fit like stock although for some reason I had to use the ballets from my amber turns. Easy fix though.

I've always liked the look of tinted lenses on these cars.

Now get some 99 headlights, and the car will be pure sex. I'm a huge fan of tinted tails/turn, if done right

Already got a set. Tried them on and didn't like them.

Looking for a set of glass white 94 headlights.

What, you didn't like them? Crazy talk... just kidding.

The 94 white is slightly different than 98 white, it actually more of a silver/grey/white. If you can find a set of headlights (any color), I have a decent set of white inserts you can have.

Damn, you make miss the old 94.

Stole this picture from Coop (DCIV)...

Definitely doesn't do it for me. The grey and the humps...

I'll keep an eye out! Thanks April.

Because 90% of the time, the ricers just spray and done. They skip the important steps like sanding/buffing/polishing.

And I wish the 99's were black instead of grey, but I'm not brave enough to try and have them repainted.

that's precisely what i've said. if you properly prep, wetsand, clear-coat, and polish...the end result looks damn fine.

^Disagree on the 99 headlights.. I dont like them on that white 94 posted above compared to stock glass..

Also, its more like flip-ups > all

Tinted tails look great, will be done on my white 91 this winter. Possibly the snake eyes also, or just no snake eye Havent decided what to do with that.
