yes weigh it, want to see if my guess is right
Awesome build!
hmm guess its just me but looks like a lot of pointless additons to the cage such as the double door bars. Why not just make an X bar there instead?? And the fact that the door bars dont come up to shoulder height which shouldnt pass tech. Guessing you also didnt weld around the entire halo bar since you had to gusset it in the window area and b pillar.
^^^ WOW, there's a tremendous amount of "I don't know and this is what i've heard or read on the internet" in the above statement. /facepalm
The doors are ladder bars. They are held in tension. Which during a side impact pulls against the main hoop and forward down tubes in addition to the load in shear. That's a very common design and it offers greater height in the center of the door area vs. an X brace, not to mention a host of other features. The shoulder height and crossing above the elbow is a NHRA drag ONLY cage specification, not applicable here, this is a time attack/hill climb car. YES, every weld is a full 360 degrees around as they HAVE TO BE THAT WAY, NO EXCEPTIONS. The gussets are also mandatory. In fact, in 2004 they changed the spec to tube gussets where you can no longer use flat stock as it would cut through the bar in heavy impacts. Along with the nothing less than a 30 degree angle, etc... The main hoop forward down tube gussets must be full size, with a host of specs for them as well. Here's a pic of the gusset.
Halo....
This is the 12th cage I've done, this isn't my first rodeo.

I had it weighed at Bandimere Speedway this morning...
...drum roll...
She weighs 1,385 lbs without the OEM rear hatch, OEM rear glass, and OEM hood.
Car weighed 1495 lbs with the hood and hatch installed. Thse parts are being swapped out for carbon fiber so the number will prolly be the same when I swap the rear glass for the poly panel and install the windshield. I was hoping for under 1,500 lbs rolling weight and it looks like I got it!
As long as the motor, seats, fluids, and bumpers weigh less than 1000 lbs I'm golden. It will weigh in right at 2400.
Keep in mind this weight is with stock ecs suspension, fatass mustang wheels with nankang tires, stock subframe, and stock brakes.
What I'm swapping each of those portions out for will be lighter, much lighter... except the brakes.
Looks killer, nice work fellas.

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.” -- Author Unknown
With 2 piece rotors, even though the disks are heavier, the aluminum hat and lighter caliper should offset that.
