Any flash-based memory can eventually wear out. The newer stuff is a lot better, but it's just a limitation of the technology. One of the big hurdles PC solid-state drives had to clear was managing the worn cells. They have a lot of spare cells and 'wear leveling' technology.

I've got some theories on why and how our flash wears out, but that's all they are...theories. I'm not an electrical engineer. Just follow the instructions, and you should be fine. Which brings us to...

This cannot be stressed enough! I used to work at a General Motors support group, and the only function of my group was to support vehicle reprogramming and the related tools. There were pages and pages of dealer bulletins related to voltage while programming. They even started requiring the dealers to buy a special $300 battery tester/charger/maintainer for use while programming.

They had to buy this tool not because the technology sucked, but because the damned techs wouldn't follow the rules while programming. Then, rather than call us to see if the module could be recovered, they'd just warranty it and sometimes make the customer wait for a new part.

Doesn't matter if it's a GM, Mitsubishi or BMW. If you follow the rules, it will work every single time.

BUt its a great idea and GReg has agreed to eventually add this feature.
Really? I'm pretty sure my Spyder's original ECU did it. Maybe it isn't in the '99 code?? I remember doing it way back when I had the ARC-2 in my car 'cause it would load up on fuel during cranking when hot.

To be honest with you, a little tweaking to the start up tables and cutting back a bit on the coolant temp fuel enrichment and there really isn't a worry about fouling plugs during start up when you have very large injectors installed.

With all the startup tables you found, why didn't mitsu just program the ecu so it didn't need the fuel pressure solenoid? I mean how many cars did mitsu make with fpr solenoids? they could have saved tons o money!

No clue man.... I honestly have no idea. Maybe the earlier gen cars ECU were not as advanced and needed it. The 98/99 ECU definitely don't.

Maybe it's the same reason the flag ECU still has the AE drivers. Would have cost more $$ to change the print and eliminate it than to keep it.

I've downloaded Evoscan 2.6, ECUflash and Chrome v1.1. I'm not exactly sure how to extract the files from the download. When looking at the window with all the two folders and the XML file, I can hit extract, but looks like it will move everything to the selected path. I believe I just need to open each of the two files to the single file that's in them and then click extract to the specified path.

    is that correct?

Now, the XML. How do i move it to the evoscan? I thought I could right click on it and get an extract option, but I don't. After extracting the other tow files, can I delete the two folders and then click extract?

I'm suren this is probably pretty basic, but I just wnat to make sure I'm moving them correctly

"I never knew I could drive like that. I was going faster than I've ever gone before, and yet, it all seemed to be happening in slow motion. I was seeing three and four moves ahead, weaving in and out of lanes like an Olympic skier on a gold medal run. I knew I was challenging the very laws of physics."

    Hey Guys,

After some driving my car throws a few CEL codes :

    1. Evaporative emission system purge contro valve circuit
    2. Manifold differential pressure sensor circuit malfunction

I was told that you can just disable the charcoal canister.

What are the peripheries for this code?

I guess the second one is the MAP sensor ?

FYI This is a 95 gto with a SL ecu, no wideband and 1 o2 sensor.
