    I believe I stumbled on at post at some point in time, I'd have to look it up again. In the meantime, I got a response back from grimmspeed regarding the Evo BCS they offer...

    Our solenoid is a 5.4W, 12V solenoid. It measures 32ohms of resistance.

    With that, we can calculate a peak amperage of .375A (375mA).

    The valve is a 3-port solenoid, but can be used in 2-port mode. What that means is that you can choose to have it either normally open or normally closed, based on how you connect your hoses.

    I don't see any reason why the stock BCS could not be set up that way either.

    That is the stock BCS, I have a pigtail that has the Evo X plug also, so I can just swap to anything compatible with that connector fairly easily. It'll get tricky if/when I have to start wiring in resistors this way because of how short the pigtails are. I'm still using a Greddy Profec in my car, but I'm going to do a big conversion back to "stock" like systems when my ecu arrives. I'm not sure if I'll reinstall the EGR System or not. Just hoping to run higher boost eventually (25-30psi).

    Do you know if the grimmspeed specs will be safe to plug in, or should I wire in a resistor to get it working? I according to mrfred's post it's really down to grimmspeed and GM, I guess if grimmspeed will plug straight in, that's the one I'd end up going with or if a resistor is necessary regardless, I'd go with GM.

    You'll need another 5 or 10ohm resistor to use that with our ECUs

    If you're going to setup any solenoid to work as a restrictor instead of a bleeder, keep in mind the base WGDC tables will be reversed. 0 = wastegates see no pressure, 100 = wastegates see full pressure). You will also need to reverse the corrections table as well. Any number that positive will need to be made negative and vise versa.

    Would a 10 ohm 5 watt resistor work for either BCS? I'm not too sure what wattage it needs to be, I'm just assuming 5 since grimmspeed operates at 5.4W

    Current = 12V / (32Ω + 10Ω) or .2857 amps
    Power in resistor = ( .2857A )^2 * 10Ω or .816 Watts.

    While a 1W resistor will work it WILL get hot. 10Ω 5W is a good choice for this.

    Thanks, I never knew how to calculate it before. I'm a programmer, so they never taught us math like that.

    I ordered the GM $28 BCS Sunday . . . I will be testing that when it comes in. I think I paid like $32 or $33 with the pigtail . . .

    Greg, I should have the GM BCS soon . . . I will get the resistance, check the actual draw, and then if all is well I will give it a whirls. I also looked into the MAC/AEM/Greddy boost control solenoid. Although this is a GREAT solenoid, it draw far too much current for our setup. According to the spec sheet I found, the MAC 35A-AAA-DDBA-1BA has a 25.4 ohm coil and draws .45 Amps @ 12 volts.

    Technically speaking, 25.4 ohms at 12 volts is more like 472 mA. Still a little too hot for our cars. And even more technically speaking, IF you factor in the fact that our electrical system will never be that low on voltage (Mitsubishi uses the 14.4 volt reference), you can expect a typical 13.6-13.8 volts at any given time which then calculates out to 535 mA @ 13.6 v and 567 mA at 14.4 v. That is WAY too much.
