I've just put a chromed usdm ecu into my 1994 JDM GTO and now I am getting a VSS CEL. Is there any changes to the speed sensor? or is it my wiring?

It's your wiring unless the jdm cars have a different sensor.

Greg you never called... We are planning some dyno pulls.. 99 vr4 ecu stock flash, diam ecu stock flash, and the 99 vr4 ecu with your chrome flash... We are looking for knock counts under dyno controlled conditions. I think the plan is to max out boost until steady knock is seen and then switch ecus and see if the same readings are there... We will be using an external knock sensor to calibrate to bypassing the ecu knock sensor reading algorithms and hardware.

And yes I know this maybe a destructive engine test as well... jk

That sounds like a dyno party I want to be at.

BTW, do you have a SL ECU to test? I might separate with mine for a short period of time but I mean short. I need it to drive ha ha

Let talk sometime today. Last weekend wasn't as uneventful as I was hoping.

Greg sounds good.. And so far we will be using my (gulp) 99 vr4 ecu... It would be nice to have several ecus.. 99 vr4 , 98 vr4, 99 sl, 99 diamante, etc to develop a baseline of variances...

I just loaned out my 99 ecu so I'd rather not loan out my 98 ecu.

The chromed Rom hasn't blown up either of my cars.

I'm assuming you're going to tune it while on the dyno right? If you just flashed this Rom to your car, nothing will change as its literally a stock tune.

Wouldn't it just be easier and more accurate to log the Knock ADC Raw output? Then you could see exactly what the sensor is reading even when it isn't knocking.

I really wanted to try this with an unmodified SL ecu to see the difference the cap filter made.
