Damnit I'm at work now lol. Sounds like I know what I'm doing tonight after work tonight!

So for my blow through set up, shall I just scale the injectors in the flash, then "zero out" the maft box and adjust the trims with the box? FWIW I will be switching to e85, probably before I upgrade turbos. Already have rc550's in so would be perfect for e85 and 9bs.

That is how I plan on testing the MAFT on my car.

Sounds good. Hopefully things go well tonight, who knows maybe I'll empty my tank tuning and fill her up with e85 since its starting to warm up here.

Eventually got it going last night, was up late relocating my maft from under the hood to the glovebox. Fired up literally on the first crank after the flash which included scaling and adjusting latency data settings for my rc550's. Got the trims dialed in close, about 2%. Idle and cruise are great, higher hz readings not soo much. I think it might be a maft issue, I'm going to adjust a couple things on my lunch in a few hours.

I'm just going to flash the stock vr4 data settings and put the maft back to the settings I had before the ecu swap. That should help me narrow it down a little bit. All in all this is great and I'm super excited. No more terribly slow data logging speeds with the shit 97 ecu!

What do you mean in the high end things "aren't so great". You might just need to tune your fuel table or a simple click on the high of the maft box would help. The car will run so much smoother if you leave the injector scalings and not go.back to stock.

It's almost like its staying in closedloop, as I gently accelerate and increase airflow afr's go lean. I do not have the rpm wire hooked up on the maft box, but that shouldn't matter since I'm keeping the box in 'maf mode' right?

Another piece of info; at cruise my trims would be around 2-3, accelerate and they go up to ~12. My latency values are already pretty high compared to the data settings provided from the link posted earlier containing injector specs, should I continue to raise them to bring down the trim at cruise? I'll try and think of some more details, but I'm thinking it's a maft issue. I'll hook
up the tach wire to the maft on lunch and tinker some more.

I agree. The "translator" is inaccurate. Might have to tweak some scalings in the maf tables in the ROM or adjust a dial in the maft box.

Got my MAF in but the connector for the maftbox is different than the one on the maf.. . Looks like I won't be playing with this at all for a bit.

Slightly off topic, but relevant - I've acquired a 96+ style intake manifold with the MAP sensor spot. I ordered an Omni 4 bar map sensor, since it's about $75 cheaper than the Evo X sensor, and will work with my BlackStealth LCD unit. I've got a modified Montero flashable ECU, so I'm not worried about ECU controlled boost or the factory boost gauge. However, the map sensor didn't come with the pigtail harness, and I haven't found one through google. I found a few sites that sell the sensor w/pigtail, but none that sell just the pigtail. My car is a 95, so I don't have a stock connector either. Anyone know? Once I get that squared away, I'll be installing my flashable ECU and trying to get back into this.

I asked Brett to track me down the male end of that connector for a project I want to take on very soon. I don't know any part numbers for it, but I can tell you it's available on any mitsubishi after 96. Might be worth a trip to the junk yard and cut one off.

Alright, some things with the maft were set incorrectly. Made some adjustments and the transition from cruise to accel is getting much better. Still not perfect, but I'm on the right track. So far so good with the 3.5" gm maf in blow through. Do I dare fill up with e85 next time?!?!
