I don't think the majority of us hate cops in general. We hate cops that can't do their job lawfully.

The title of the thread was more sarcasm than anything, because I really do believe that most people genuinely have the wrong idea and hate cops.

Only people who hate cops are the ones who break the law often.

Sad but true. Most officers are great people who will put their life on the line for the citizens they are sworn to protect.

They do become jaded and pessimistic with time, but they need to be to survive against the people they are dealing with.

I am not speaking as an officer myself, but my best friend since 5th grade, and my best man for that matter, is an officer. I love ride alongs.

i tend to think of my personal behavior as rather static, so my hatred of law-enforcement fluctuates directly proportionally to the amount of harassment i get. most of the time, i'm never bothered at all. other times, it's a doughnut muncher who has nothing better to do than camp on a speed trap. fuck those guys.

Some police definitely do push the boundaries of dumb and unnecessarily forceful. However I have no complaints about dealing with the police. When I hit someone with my car (it wasn't my fault, he was being dumb and drunk and decided to run out in front of me), the cops definitely did try to trip up my story a bit, but that's just doing their job to make sure I wasn't making it up, and other than mistakenly telling me the guy was dead (which they later apologized for the mixup), they were nothing but respectful. The last thing I needed was someone yelling at me or blaming me and I didn't get any of it from them.
