Sounds like you are in a similar spot to Lori. I'll tell you the same thing I tell her. YOU have probably reached a point where you are gaining more in muscle weight that you loose in fat weight. Stare measuring your self and keeping track. I bet you'll find a slow and steady reduction in several areas. And remember the belly fat is the last to go.

Thanks for the encouragement, Alan, but that's a no go---The scale may mislead, but the tape and the clothes don't. I have some ideas, but since I'm not very educated in this stuff, I have to read more and talk to someone who knows. Just gonna keep plugging along until I learn where I am going wrong. Thanks again.

If you really are doing good with the nutrition aspect and you are getting nothing from it, there could be a medical reason for it. By chance, have you had your thyroid levels checked out? I know of people that needed to go on thyroid meds to get their metabolism straightened out. If your thyroid levels are ok, try taking your total caloric intake for the day (1500, 1800 2000 or whatever the number) and dividing it out by five. Each meal should be at that calorie count. Protein burns fat, so make sure you get protein at each meal, balanced out by good carbs. The biggest thing to remember for those who battle weight gain is you are not going on a diet, you are readjusting the way you eat for the rest of your life. There are things I know I have to keep out of my life on a regular basis that I love and two of the big ones are Chinese Buffets and Golden Corral. I love those places, but they allow me to pack on the pounds, so I now visit one or the other once every six weeks or so, not once or twice a week. Keep plugging away and don't get discouraged. Lifestyle change is not easy, but it is possible with determination.

John, the thyroid issue has been brought up to me by family (tho we have no history of it) because, they, too, are trying to help me determine what is going on. I will keep this updated as things go along and see what comes of it. Thanks!

Hypothyrioidism could be the cause, or it could be something as simple as stress.

I know there are a million theories on dieting, but I saw a show yesterday that seemed to make sense. They called it carb cycling. It is meant to keep the metabolism up for continued weight loss. Basically one or two days each week you eat a fair amount of carbs so your body doesn't think you are starving.

I wish I had a link... might update later.

I've considered the stress angle, too, but I just don't have much stress in my life.
