I don't appear to be big, but I could stand to lose a little weight. Everyone thinks I am 170ish but I am in the 200s.

Reading about some of the health issues just reminded me the last two times I have checked my blood pressure on one of those cuff things in the WalMart pharmacy my blood pressure has been in the hypertension to borderline hypertension range. Only problem is I don't know if the blood pressure is a result of my diet, or just from stress. I don't really salt my foods much, if at all. Some foods i eat are higher in sodium content themselves though. I need to keep an eye on this.

i was reading recently that a diet low in sodium can actually pose other risks--in addition to the benefits it offers. something like raised cholesterol & lowered BP, or vice-versa.

The other thing that concerned me the last time I checked the blood pressure was my heart rate. I normally have a heart rate anywhere from 55-70 BPM. It was at 100. I am more questioning the results now just due to that. I don't remember if that was a particular stressful day, but the raised heart rate alone could be a main factor for the raised blood pressure.

Have you considered stopping to see your DR and having it checked?

31 years old and never had a family doctor. Never really had the need for one, besides I don't have health insurance. Its ungodly expensive at work. Something like $32 a week. I am not going to pay $1700 a year for something I never use. It wasn't so bad at my last job when I only paid $768 a year for medical, dental, vision, presciption, etc. I even almost cancelled it then due to cost and because I never go to the doctor.

If it comes down to it I think my cousin is still an LPN and can check it for me.

Idiots, simply by being idiots, seem capable of achieving randomly bad things that are beyond the imaginings of sensible people.
