I don't have any faith in BMI. Even at 165 lbs BMI says I am overweight or close to it. According to BMI I should be around 140. BMI doesn't take into account muscle mass, bone density, etc. I myself am not overly muscular, but am very strong for my size. If people try to guess my weight they always go 15-20 pounds under.

When I was 19 I was 145 lbs. There really wasn't much to me at that time. Lots of manual labor and a little of being a "late bloomer", if you will, contributed to gain in weight and mass. A little bit of alcohol helped too.

I'm babbling now, but my point is I really just need to get the BF% down and I'll be happy.

I agree Stealthee I am hoping I do the same, but if I lose more than that, that's even better. I am trying to trim down first and maybe I think of bulking up later on...

I'm trying to gain weight... Started around 150 around 6-7 months ago. I'm up to 163 today. My goal is 175 by May (when I turn 30).

Yes you all can hate me for having a super high metabolism.

Good luck everyone. I may play along on the sidelines, since I don't have a lot to lose, but still need to drop some. I'm following along with Chris' new food program, but my weight has gone UP and that is very annoying.

This is a big deal, congrats! How are you doing this?

I have issues with blood sugar; borderline type 2. Doctor didn't say Adkins, but he mentioned high protien and cutting out carbs such as starches; bread, white rice, pasta, potatoes, etc.

I have started it, and one thing I like, is that the protien will get me feeling full, for a longer period of time, and it seems bsl is better. Doing some fuits and vegetables, and minimal starches. Also weight has seemed to level off; not increasing.

On the output side, not so much cardio lately, but lifting @ gym 3 times a week or less, majors; legs, pecs/back, delts and lats. Would love to add 1 more gym day for cardio and arms.

The second week in a row I was able to bench 315 (one time).

I am Type 2. I found out last March when I weighed over 330. I decided that I would not just live with it and get by on meds and risk all the complications that can come from being diabetic.

How am I doing it? With a ton of help from Lori in the meal creation/prep I've totally changed my diet.

I eat between 3 meals a day and 2-3 snacks.
Normal meals have 30-40 carbs. Most carbs are from fruits or multi-grain breads. Lean meats and a ton of veggies(veggie carbs do not count)
Snacks run about 20 carbs. Snacks are normally crackers and cheese, fruit with a protein(cheese, peanut butter,...)

I get on an elliptical m-f I started at less than 5 minutes and not am over 10 minutes(I can go longer but available time is a factor)

When I was diagnosed My fasting Blood glucose over 350 and my A1C was 10.5.

My fasting blood sugar is now 80-100 and my A1C at last check was 5.4. I was on cholesterol and High blood pressure meds. I have stopped them all. According to my Dr's all of the improvement I have seen is from diet and Excessive the meds alone would not get the number that low.

I expect to get to the 220-240 range.

In my 20's 230 put me at 20% bf. In theory I could go lower but I'm too lazy to work that hard

We seem to have lots of parallels, health- and size-wise...
