My brother decided it was time for him to lose some weight. I think I said something about this in the chat, may have said something here but, he is 6'3" and started at 392 last Monday. When he weighed in this Monday he was down to 381. All he has done is cut back on some unhealthy food and jogged a mile a night on the treadmill. The one night he played several games of Wii boxing to work up his sweat. He's also trying to quit smoking. I'm seriously proud of him and hope he keeps it up.

Tell him that last every chance you get, Brian.
Ranked No. #1 in initial quality

Idiots, simply by being idiots, seem capable of achieving randomly bad things that are beyond the imaginings of sensible people.

Brian, The next few weeks could be hard. At that weight the first chunk of weight comes off fast. The second week can be a letdown. He'll need support to get past the next few weeks and keep it up long term.

He knows this. I've told him he doesn't need to be as concerned about the scale as he is about how he feels and how his clothes fit.

Please follow thru with seeing the hematologist and trying to do as they tell you. You have too much time here on this earth not to be healthy.

Have a safe and fun trip!
I am definitely following through with the hematologist visit. I could have a rare disorder or it could be a fluke. Only way to find out is to hear it from a professional.

I knew I was putting on a few pounds, but didn't really think about actively losing weight until a couple weeks back. I made a mistake I'd rather not get into and now I am on the fast track to changing some lifestyle habits.

I was 237 as of 1/15. My pants were becoming challenging to put on. Because I am tall- new pants are hard to find. So, I live about 3 miles from work. I always drove. I now bike-yes even in the snow. I used to eat out for lunch because there is a hundred restaurants within a couple miles. The bike ride also stopped this (not enough time to go out); I now bring lunches each day. The last big change is that I no longer drink alcohol. This has also cut my soda/pop consumption from 4-6 cans to 1 can per day.

End result, 12 days in I am down to 229. I've been sleeping better, and overall feel more energetic. I could still improve my lunches and dinners, but for now, I'm feeling good.

This and coffee seem to be the big contributors to an unhealthy body in the workplace (at least in my observations around my work). Good job so far!

I still have a long way to go.
Alan, we're so proud of you. I know that you and Lori have made a commitment to change your lifestyles and that is phenomenal for you both!

Please keep us updated on what you find. I know how nerve-wracking it can be just waiting.

Went to the gym last week to play 'at' racquetball....I ended up swatting the ball around forever and got LOTS of running accomplished by chasing it. Took a few days to recover from that! Have not been on a scale in over a week but am confident it will be down, even if it's just a pound. Worked in the yard yesterday and have been walking the Beagle we found as much as I can, to wear down his energy and get me exercise. Keep it going, folks!!

While Mike was hugging me this morning he said "I can tell you are loosing weight. I can hold you closer and my arms reach farther around you."
Then he gave me a big kiss and called me "Skinny"

    Best motivation in the world!
