NEW AEM Standalone / Flex fuel integrated, The Infinity Series

AEM debuted their new Infinity standalone EMS at SEMA 2011. AEM set out to be the best on this one with a no expense spared spec sheet, this ECU is something to look forward to. The ‘Infinity’ universal engine management system will be sold with application specific vehicle/mfr plug and play harnesses, while others can use a universal wiring harness to incorporate this standalone ems.

The AEM Infinity EMS is new from the ground up, and boasts many powerful features including VE tuning, dual drive-by-wire throttle body control, quad cam control, flex fuel support, traction control based on wheel speed or engine acceleration, electronic turbo wastegate boost control, data logging, two-step, three-step, anti-lag and more!

Details on the AEM Infinity ECU:
    12 Peak-and-hold Injector Drivers
    10 Ignition Outputs
    23 Analog Inputs
    8 Digital Inputs
    10 Low Side Drivers
    3 High Side Drivers
    2 Internal Wideband AFR Controllers
    2 Adaptive Knock Channels
    4 Cam Control
    Idle Control
    Boost Control
    Traction Control
    Two-Step
    Three-Step
    Antilag
    Dual Fuel Pump Control
    Dual Fan Control
    4-Stage Nitrous Control
Advanced 1KHZ Datalogging and Analysis, includes 2GB Flash Drive Standard (32GB Max)

Looks pretty sweet. Can't wait to get my hands on one. A lot of the new additions are things I've tried to work on and bent the V1 EMS to make it work, but they are bandaids. A few thigns I like about it, dual fuel pump contol, cam profile control, three step, realtime flex fuel management, dual internal widebands, and two adaptive knock channels.

Interesting. So basically they copied proefi. (flex fuel, integrated widebands, etc). Curious to see what pricing will be for a 3S specific unit.

Cool! Will/Does AEM have their own content analyzers or will this EMS utilize GM's unit?

I'm excited for this! I'm thinking I may just have to throw one of these in my car to be a test car for these before we start selling them hehe

I think with this series you'll have to make a patch harness. With all the extra features I wouldn't think its going to be "plug and play" . Prolly have to wire it in Just like an SM-4 Universal.

I could certainly make and sell a patch harness for it if some folks don't like playing with spagetti or just don't feel comfortable with wiring.

Its still in beta so we'll see how it compares with ProEFI. Anyone want to bet the Supra guys get it first...?

Now, what I can't understand is, why does this $1k+ EMU have a processor that is 1/5 the speed of the processor in my phone?? 200mhz processors are from like '98, what gives?
Because the 8mhz CPU that came stock in your car was still plenty fast enough to control fuel, ignition, boost, closed loop fuel feedback, diagnostics and a handful of other functions.

You can't apply PC thinking to embedded electronics. They're two totally different worlds.

From what I've heard there's already a couple floating around the pro-mod/stock scene . . . and NOT Supras.

It's a pretty wicked system and should make some SERIOUS power.

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.” -- Author Unknown

Personally, I like V1 more tha V2. I also know very little about software engineering. I can make just about anything work with a bread board but microprocessor design and code are beyond my skillset.

My guess as to why GEM's are still old tech? I would think you can only process data as fast as it can be processed? Maybe there's no need to upgrade speed because the simple devices and wiring which control the EFI in our vehicles is nearly 20 years old?
