IMO you need to decide on the engine before everything else. The plan you just described would leave you wasting money on a 3.0 + TD04 setup when you seem to want to use the 3.5 later on.

No, that may have been in my first post, but i have since learned to not do that. haha. I'm going to run 650's on my 3.0 while I build my 3.5 on an engine stand.

My thought process is that since the 3.5 is going to take significantly more money, I can use my current funds (which should be enough for the 3.0 build) and then slowly to the 3.5 build. This is because I wanted the build to be done by the end of winter and i wont have the funds to finish the 3.5 by then, but i will for the 3.0

I say build the 3.0 bottom end (forged 3.0 or maybe 3.1L) and go with billet dr650's, maybe even add some water/meth inj. that would prob put you at a solid 500+whp which sounds like its right where you want to be. Then instead of building the 3.5 I would keep things simple and just buy larger turbos in the future (Evo3 16G's, DR800/1000/1200, MTC TD05's, ect). pretty much any turbo that requires different headers will make wayyyy more hp than your current power goal. 16G's are one of the smaller TD05 turbos and even they have done 600+AWHP. i don't see the need to build a 3.5L. You might even want to contact Dynamic Racing about the Billet TD05's
