Anyone own a Parrot or similar larger bird?

We've had a Sun Conure (small parrot) for a couple years but yesterday brought home an adoption bird, a 17yo Blue Fronted Amazon.

Ripley we think is actually a female... very sweet but a little scared right now since she's in new surroundings.

Talks up a storm... Hello, Hi, What's up, peanut butter, momma, bye, i'm a good bird, I dont' know, I want up, step up, and just tonight she learned "Scrabble" (our dog's name). I'm sure there's more, and she "mumbles" a lot, basically sentences that we can't understand.

Anyway, I'll post some pics soon, and probably some vids, but just wanted to see if there's any interest and/or other people owned by birds?

They are actually one of the nicer amazons, but I still won't let one on my shoulder. I used to work in a bird dept, that dealt with very large parrot (mostly macaws, amazons, and cockatoos). Out of all the different birds, I hated amazons the most. Be careful giving them too many peanut, they can become obese rather fast.

I bought my father a timneh african grey, and almost owned a scarlet macaw.

I hope that can be seen, it's hosted on my FB account.

Getting used to a large bird, though... when the conure nips you, it's not really a big deal. This one, hurts.

My mom owns an African Grey, they all look the same, and it looks like that one, just different colors. Pretty neat how clear they can talk and mimic.

    Example pic of African Grey:

My girl friend has 2. One that never stops talking. I am amazed how intelligent it is. It doesn't just repeat sounds, it talks. I first realize that upon this conversation:
Bird "wanna a treat?" So I try and give the bird a treat and in the process drop it. It falls through to the bottom of the cage.
    bird, "Bad boy! Bad Boy!
me, "he, I'm not a bad boy."
Bird "you shut-up" with indignant attitude.

It also sings the lolipop song including incredible whistling.
One of my favorites. When the cat comes in the room

    here kitty kitty.

    Bird freaks me out.

I'd love to have one, but the wife says NO.
It'd probably terrorize the grandkids as well.
They were intimidated by the 8 point buck I've mounted on the wall, no telling what a bird would do to em.
Have read some interesting things about large birds .. parrots, cockatiels, macaws, etc.
