    Guns and Guitars auction

Last Saturday there was a small auction that was basically just guns and guitars. Lots of rifles and shotguns and only two handguns.
The other end of the spectrum had several electric guitars, a large set of bongos and an Martin acoustic guitar. I wound up getting the Kimber Ultra Carry II and a 1994 Gibson SC Standard. I got the gun for around $200 under retail +tax, so that was good and I got the guitar for less than half of what a similar SG standard sells for and at least $300 less than a VGC used one goes for. So a good day all in all on the auction front.

I've shot the Kel-Tec 9mm. Great carry gun. I've heard great things about the LCP and LC9 from Ruger though I've never shot one myself. Not terribly great for range shooting as most conceal carry guns aren't.

Ooooooooh, that's a blanket statement I'd definitely stay away from. What range? 100 yards? Only a scoped hunting pistol will shine there. A regular 25 yard indoor range? I'd say there are more than a handful of carry guns that will dot the i's on an indoor range. I took the kimber out in the back yard when I got home and proceeded to put a string of bullet holes side by side by side on my target from around 30 feet. If you went through a CC class, you should have been instructed that is about the limit for shooting someone and not getting in trouble for it. The Kimber 45ACP is very accurate for a 3" or 4" inch barrel for that matter. Very little recoil due to its design and very comfortable in the hand. My HK P2000 9mm with the 3" barrel is very accurate at 5 ~ 25 yards too. Now here is the catch, both are $800+ guns, so the old you get what you pay for applies yet again. I had a Ruger P90DC (45 ACP $385 - $415) that I sold because it wasn't that accurate at 10 yards. I still have a Ruger P84 9mm that I keep because it was my first handgun, but it is no where as accurate as my HK P2000 yard for yard. Again, $400 vs. $825 gets you something that shoots bullets, but not necessarily exactly where you want it to.
Stubby pistols aka .380s and .32 ACPs are 10 foot and under guns meant for close quarters or Poker games gone bad. Pretty much ultra conceal where a real gun might show. Good for pocket carry or an ankle holster the same as a .38 J frame S&W. And speaking of the S&W .38 Special, that's what I'd recommend for your daughter. I got one for my wife to CC and it is a nice fit. It will never jam, you don't have to worry about carrying "one in the pipe" and it is lightweight and relatively small. We got her the FBI special, which is hammerless (actually a shrouded hammer) so it will not snag pulling it from her purse. A lot, if not most CCW instructors recommend a .38 for women because of its ease of use and small size. And a nice thing about a Smith is you can take it to a gunsmith and the trigger pull is easily adjustable to fit the shooter.

Wow, you took that and ran with it. I just meant as far as having fun. They are very snappy guns with such little weight and they are too small to be comfortable in most people's hands for a longer duration.
